Often, leaders focus on the aesthetic of their leadership more than its substance. We study posture, tone, presence, and visibility — sometimes with greater discipline than we examine alignment itself.

Misalignment rarely announces itself loudly. More often, it shows up in patterns leadership rationalizes away.

I didn’t realize how much it had taken until I stepped away for a season—not to reinvent myself, but to heal. It was only then that I could fully acknowledge how certain environments require a constant kind of self-monitoring—one that wears on your spirit long before you realize how much of yourself you’ve been holding.

A statistic stopped me in my tracks: Over 300,000 Black women have exited workplaces shaped by discriminatory climates.
